So, I needed to track down the Newman basketball schedule the other day. You know how it is, trying to catch a game or just keep up with the local team. It’s not always as straightforward as you’d think.
My Process for Digging Up the Schedule
First thing I did, obviously, was fire up my computer. Went straight to my usual search engine and typed in “Newman basketball schedule”. Seemed like the logical starting point, right? Sometimes you get lucky and it’s the first thing that pops up, all neat and tidy. Not this time, though.
I got a mix of stuff. Some links to old news articles, a few mentions of past seasons, but nothing solid for the current one. That’s pretty common, actually. So, my next step was to try and go directly to the source. I figured the Newman school or athletics website would be the place.
Finding the athletics section on those school websites can be a bit of a maze. I clicked around a bit:
- Looked for an “Athletics” tab.
- Then tried to find “Basketball” under sports.
- Then, specifically, the “Schedule” page.
It’s often buried a few clicks deep. You’d think they’d make it easier, especially for something people are always looking for. Anyway, I eventually landed on what looked like their main athletics page.
Sometimes these schedules are posted as a nice, clean webpage. Other times, and this happens a lot, it’s just a PDF document. And yeah, that’s what I found this time. A PDF. Better than nothing, I guess, but not always the easiest to view on your phone if you’re out and about.
I’ve also learned that if the official school site isn’t up to date, or if the schedule is super hard to find, checking local news websites or even community Facebook groups can sometimes turn up the info. People in the community often share it if they’ve managed to get their hands on it. Didn’t have to go that far this time, thankfully. The PDF, once I found it on the school’s athletic portal, had all the dates and opponents.
So, I downloaded it, made a few notes of the key games I was interested in. It’s a bit of a digital treasure hunt sometimes. You just gotta be persistent. It’s rarely a one-click affair. You poke around, try different keywords if your first search doesn’t hit, and eventually, you usually find what you’re looking for. That was my little adventure getting the Newman basketball schedule sorted.
