Alright, let’s talk about this ‘liv hair’ thing. Heard about it? Maybe you have. I sure did, and well, I went for it, put it through its paces, you could say.

My hair and I, we’ve had a complicated relationship. Always have. It’s not like it’s been terrible, but it’s never been… easy. You know? One day it’s playing nice, the next it’s a wild mess, got a mind of its own. I’ve tried, oh, I’ve tried a ton of stuff over the years. My bathroom counter has seen things.

What kind of things? Well, let’s see:

  • Serums that promised the moon and delivered, well, not much.
  • Masks that smelled like a fancy spa but did zilch for the frizz.
  • Those weird DIY concoctions you see online – yeah, been there, done that.
  • Even chopping it all off in a fit of frustration. More than once, if I’m honest.

Honestly, you name it, I’ve probably slapped it on my head hoping for a miracle.

So, when ‘liv hair’ started popping up everywhere, or at least it felt like it was the next big thing everyone was buzzing about, I thought, ‘Okay, maybe this is the one.’ I did a bit of digging, but mostly it was looking at those glossy pictures and folks raving online. You know how it is.

Booked the appointment. Wasn’t cheap, let me tell you that straight up. But I figured, ‘Hey, it’s an investment in myself,’ right? That’s the line we feed ourselves when we’re about to spend too much on something.

So, I walked into this salon. It was one of those places that tries a bit too hard to be chic. They sat me down, and the stylist started talking a whole lot of technical stuff, most of which went right over my head. I just nodded along, trying to look like I understood. Then came the actual process. Lots of steps. First, a wash, then they slathered on some kind of goo. Then came the heat, some machine I think. Then more goo. It felt like it took forever. I was stuck in that chair for what seemed like half a day, easy.

The whole time, I’m sitting there, thinking, ‘This better be good. This REALLY better be good for what it costs and how long it’s taking.’ You build up these expectations, don’t you?

And when they finally did the big reveal, spun me around to face the mirror? Yeah, it looked… different. Super sleek. Shiny. Like those models in hair commercials. I walked out of there feeling pretty good, like I’d finally cracked the code. For about a day. Maybe two, if I was lucky and didn’t sleep too wild.

Then, reality started to creep back in. It wasn’t the miracle I’d pinned my hopes on. Just another temporary fix, and a pretty darn pricey one at that. My hair slowly went back to its usual self, maybe a tiny bit better for a week or so, but not ‘liv hair’ amazing.

So, why am I still hung up on this hair thing?

Now, you might be thinking, ‘Okay, so a hair treatment didn’t change your life. Big deal. Why are you even still talking about it?’ And most days, yeah, I’d agree with you. It’s just hair. But this whole ‘liv hair’ episode, it happened at a really specific, kinda rough time for me.

Let me tell you why this particular experience stuck with me so much. It wasn’t just about the money wasted, or the hair not being perfect. Not really.

See, I’d just been let go from my job. Totally out of the blue. One minute you’re plugging away, the next you’re carrying a box of your stuff out the door. It was a kick in the gut, to put it mildly. And I had this interview lined up, a really important one. My one big shot, it felt like at the time. I was a complete mess on the inside, confidence shot to pieces. But I thought, ‘Okay, if I can just look the part, feel a tiny bit more put together on the outside, maybe that’ll give me an edge.’ Sounds a bit silly now, but when you’re down, you clutch at anything, right?

So, that’s when I splurged on the ‘liv hair’ treatment. Poured a good chunk of my dwindling savings into it. I genuinely thought it would give me that boost, that ‘I’ve got this’ feeling. That polished look that screams ‘hire me’.

I walked into that interview with my ‘perfect’ hair. Felt okay for a minute. Did I get the job? Nope. Not even close, it turned out. And the hair? By the time I got home, feeling completely deflated and more miserable than before, it was already starting to look… well, just ordinary. A bit flat, actually. Just like how I felt, I guess.

It wasn’t the ‘liv hair’ treatment’s fault, obviously. Or the salon’s. They did what they said they’d do, more or less. But because of when it happened, and what I’d loaded onto that hope, it became this stupid symbol for me. A symbol of trying so hard, spending so much, for something that just didn’t deliver when I really needed a win, any kind of win. It just added to the pile of disappointment.

So yeah, that ‘liv hair’ experience. It taught me a lesson, I suppose. Not really about hair products, though. More about where we put our hopes and expectations. And that sometimes, the shiniest, glossiest exterior can’t really fix what’s going on inside, or change the big outcomes. Since then, I’ve definitely chilled out a lot about my hair. It does what it does. Some days it’s good, some days it’s a disaster. Kinda like life, eh? I still try new things now and then, little experiments, but I don’t expect miracles from a bottle or a salon chair anymore. Especially not when the stakes feel high. Still see those ‘liv hair’ ads around, though. Makes me chuckle a bit, to be honest.
