So, graduation from Auburn was on the horizon, and man, it felt like it snuck up on me. One minute I was stressing about finals, the next, my mom was asking about graduation announcements. Announcements? Right, those things you send out. Hadn’t even crossed my mind, to be honest.
Getting Started
First thing I did was ask around. A couple of buddies who were also graduating said they’d already looked into it. Apparently, Auburn has an official way to do this, which, I guess, makes sense. You don’t want to send out something that looks like you printed it at home, even though, let’s be real, the thought crossed my mind for a hot second to save a few bucks.
So, I hopped onto the Auburn website. After a bit of clicking around, I found the section for graduation. Buried in there, amongst all the cap and gown info and ceremony schedules, was a link for ordering announcements. It led to an external vendor, one of those companies that specializes in all things graduation. Seemed legit enough.
The Ordering Saga
Okay, so I got to their website. It wasn’t super complicated, but there were definitely choices. So many choices! Different packages, different styles of announcements. Some were real fancy, with the embossed university seal and all that. Others were a bit more basic. I had to think about who I was sending them to. Mostly family, a few close family friends. Didn’t need hundreds, that’s for sure.
The personalization part was pretty straightforward. Typed in my name, my degree – Bachelor of Science in Whatever-It-Was – and the details for the ceremony. Date, time, all that good stuff. I remember double-checking the spelling of my own name like five times. You do NOT want to mess that up.
Then came the quantity. They had packages, like 25, 50, 75. I debated this for a bit. Went back and forth, trying to count relatives in my head. Finally settled on a number that felt right, not too many, not too few. Added some thank you cards to the order too, figured those would come in handy.
The price? Well, it wasn’t cheap. But I guess it’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime things, right? Or at least, once per degree. So, I bit the bullet and placed the order.
Waiting and Receiving
Then came the waiting game. They gave an estimated shipping time, a couple of weeks, I think. And just like anything you order online, you kind of forget about it until it shows up.
One afternoon, there was a box on my doorstep. The return address was from the announcement company. This was it! I actually felt a little bit excited, which was weird for a bunch of paper.
I took the box inside and opened it up. They were all neatly packed. I pulled one out. Gotta say, they looked pretty official. Nice thick paper, the Auburn colors, the whole deal. It suddenly made graduation feel a lot more real.
The Final Check and Next Steps
I spread a few out on the table. Checked all the details again: name, degree, date, time. Everything was correct. Phew. That was a relief. The quality was good, definitely better than anything I could have MacGyvered myself.
So yeah, that was my adventure in getting Auburn graduation announcements. Nothing too crazy, just a process you gotta go through. Now the “fun” part was actually addressing all of them and getting them in the mail. But holding them in my hand, it was a good feeling. A little piece of paper that represented a whole lot of work. War Eagle!
- Found the official vendor through the Auburn website.
- Picked a design and personalized it with my details.
- Ordered a specific quantity that seemed reasonable.
- Waited for them to arrive.
- Checked them over for accuracy – all good!
Next up, figuring out who gets one and actually sending them. But that’s a story for another day.
