Alright, so I wanted to share a bit about a little adventure I had recently. Sounds grand, doesn’t it? But really, it was just me trying to track down the Kennedy football schedule. You’d think in this day and age, with information zipping around everywhere, this would be a piece of cake. Well, let me tell you, it wasn’t quite as straightforward as I’d hoped.
It all started because my nephew, young fella, he’s really into the local high school sports scene, and Kennedy High is right around our area. He kept asking about their games, when they were playing, who they were up against. And you know, I like to keep up with local stuff, maybe catch a game if I’ve got a free Friday night. Good community spirit, right?
So, my first thought was, naturally, the internet. I fired up my computer, went to my usual search engine, and typed in “Kennedy High School football schedule.” Seemed logical. I got a bunch of results, of course. Some looked promising, pointing to what seemed like school district sites or local sports pages.
I clicked on what looked like the official school athletics page. Navigated around a bit. Found the “Football” section. And there it was… or so I thought. Turns out, the schedule posted was for last year. Seriously. I double-checked the dates, thinking maybe I was mixed up. Nope. Plain as day, the previous academic year. A bit frustrating, I gotta say. You’d think updating that would be a priority, especially with the season approaching or already underway.
Okay, plan B. I thought maybe some local news outlets would have it. Scanned a few of those online sports sections. Found some articles about past Kennedy games, player profiles, that sort of thing, but no clear, current schedule. It was all a bit scattered. One site had a partial list, another had a link that went to a dead page. It felt like I was piecing together a puzzle with half the pieces missing.
Then I remembered some folks use those dedicated high school sports stats websites. I tried a couple of the big ones. Sometimes they’re pretty good, sometimes they’re also outdated or rely on someone from the school to actually input the information. In this case, Kennedy’s info was spotty. Some games listed, but not all, and a few “To Be Announced” where you’d expect a date and opponent.
I even thought about calling the school office directly. But honestly, I try to avoid that unless absolutely necessary. You know how it can be – you get transferred a few times, end up in voicemail, or the person who knows is “out to lunch.” It just seemed like a lot of hassle for something that should be easily accessible online.
Eventually, after a bit more digging, I stumbled upon a community Facebook group for the town. Someone had actually posted a scanned copy of the schedule there! It wasn’t official-official, like from the school website, but it looked legit, probably something a parent got their hands on. It was a bit blurry, but readable. Victory, I guess? It just felt like it took way more effort than it should have.
So, what did I learn from this little practice? Well, mostly that finding simple information can sometimes be a real wild goose chase. You’d think schools would want to make it super easy for folks to find game schedules – get more people in the stands, build that community support. But it seems like sometimes, the basic stuff gets overlooked in the digital shuffle. Or maybe I just looked in all the wrong places initially. Who knows? Anyway, I got the schedule, nephew’s happy, and maybe I’ll actually make it to a game this season. We’ll see!
